The Story of Our 120-Year-Old Starter

My great-great-grandfather was a Rural Montana Rancher. He forged our family’s starter in 1902. He was known for telling the best stories and making sourdough biscuits over the fire. Throughout the generations, my family has tenderly preserved this starter. My grandfather continued the legacy and would make us sourdough pancakes every time we visited. To this day, they are my FAVORITE thing. Thriving Provisions was birthed out of a desire to take my sourdough heritage and give it to others. Our starter is know for its strength, flavor, and resilience. May this sourdough cause you to bloom, flourish, and equip you for everything you need on life’s journey.

Meet the Family

  • My grandparents are in their late 70’s and live in rural Montana. Sourdough has become a way of life for them. Every week, they make bread and pancakes. When they leave town, they always bring their starter.

On a recent trip to Hawaii, they made sure to bring their sourdough to share with others.

  • Hi, my name is Gracey. I am the founder of Thriving Provisions. My husband and our newest edition help with productions and taste testing. I am an avid baker and always look for creative ways for others to enjoy sourdough.
